DC Reveals Identity of Gay Superhero, Marvel Plans wedding for gay superhero

DC Reveals Identity of Gay Superhero

According to a report from Kapow!, DC Comics has announced that its gay character will be Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern and current cast member of James Robinson and Nicola Scott's Earth 2 monthly series.

Earth 2 #2, which arrives in stores on Wednesday, holds the reveal, but we should mention that DC wasn't really planning on making a big deal over the announcement.

Robinson explained that the genesis of Alan Scott's homosexuality came to him during the beginning of the planning for the series.  He also explained that the New 52 would be losing Obsidian, Alan Scott's biological son, who's actually gay himself, so his solution was giving that trait to Alan.

Alan Scott originally debuted in All-American Comics #16 in 1940. Although back then he had little to do with the Green Lantern Corps, it'll be interesting to see what his role becomes and rest of his story with the New 52.

Marvel Comics Plans Wedding for Gay Hero Northstar

Watch out DC, Marvel also has gay character, apparently.

Super speedster Northstar and his longtime boyfriend will be married in an upcoming issue ofAstonishing X-Men, set to come out on June 20.

The New York based Marvel Comics publisher said that Northstar, aka Jean-Paul Beaubier, will marry his longtime beau Kyle Jinadu.

Northstar revealed that he was gay in the pages of "Alpha Flight" No. 106 back in the early 90's. 10 years later, Apollo and the Midnighter were married in the pages of "The Authority", published by DC's Wildstorm imprint.
